“George Harrison’s Concert for Bangladesh in 1971 leveraged his Beatle magnetism to draw rock’s most cosmic lineup up to that point. This singular photo embraces the moment, with all their signatures to defy gravity itself. Owner defies humility for lifetime bragging rights.”

I met photographer Cliff Lipson around 2015 when he came to my office for an ophthalmology examination. I have always had an interest in music and photography. Somehow we spoke about Cliff’s career in photography and he mentioned his love of music and his opportunity to photograph The Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. I told him one of my very good friends was Jim Keltner who played double drums with Ringo for the Concert at Madison Square Garden. Cliff then told me about the unique image he had taken of the band, and that he was certain Jim Keltner had never seen it. I decided to invite Cliff and Jim to my house for dinner to view the images Cliff had taken. Jim’s eyes widened when Cliff laid out the images on my bar and said he had never seen any of them. Cliff then offered to make a large print and donate it to the charity of my choice if he and Ringo would sign it. Jim then took four of the large prints to Ringo who signed them at his home. One of the prints was given to Ringo. Cliff and I then decided to see if we could get the remaining living members of the band to sign the remaining three. Shortly thereafter Bonnie Raitt and Leon Russell held a benefit show at The Canyon Club in Agoura, CA to benefit her former bandmate, the ailing Marty Grebb. Cliff and I met with Leon Russell after his set, and he agreed to sign the three images. I then auctioned one of them at the show to benefit Marty. After that Jim put me in touch with Eric Clapton via his management who also agreed to sign, so I sent it off to London and Eric promptly sent it back. With one remaining autograph left I sent the remaining two photos to Klaus Voormann in Germany, who signed and sent them back to me. One of the images is for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and now the other I had framed with museum glass and has been donated to the outstanding charity Food Forward.
