The Capital City Fund allows us to hold the Tulip Ball and provides funding for community activities performed by the Tulip Court each year. It is also how we are able to appropriately care for and recognize our Veterans, a matter that is very important to Mayor Sheehan. The Capital City Fund provides Veterans organizations with the means to hold the Veterans and Memorial Day Parades, the Gold Star Families luncheon and purchase flags used to honor the resting places of Albany County veterans every Memorial Day. The Fund also provides grants to Albany based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs and services in the areas of community and culture, arts, and education. Proceeds from the Tulip Ball will benefit the Capital City Fund and allow it to continue all of this important work.
The Tulip Ball is the highlight of the widely-anticipated Tulip Festival weekend. For 76 years, Albany has hosted this celebration of our rich history and tradition with a three-day event featuring the annual street scrubbing, a music, arts and crafts festival attended by thousands in the historic Washington Park, and the Royal Tulip Ball. With you by our side at the 76th Annual Tulip Ball, we are sure to achieve this season’s fundraising goal and serve The Capital City Fund well.
