EMALIA'S TABLE

An online auction and fundraiser to benefit grieving children

WHAT IS EMALIA'S TABLE?

Between June 9th and June 19th, participate in Emalia's Table, a unique online auction and celebration, and give back to Na Keiki O Emalia! Purchase dinners and donate  through June 30th.

Emalia's Table
offers you a way to celebrate Emalia's birthday (June 19th) by sharing a meal with your family and/or friends, thus supporting Na Keiki O Emalia (NKOE) which exists to help Maui's grieving children and their families.
Emalia LOVED birthdays--her own and others'--and would begin planning in early spring how she wanted to spend her birthday! You too can partake in birthday fun by planning how you want to use  a special dinner, which can occur during a year from purchase.
Since NKOE's peer support groups are at no cost to participants, NKOE depends on your generosity and hopes that you will celebrate with at least one of the delicous meals on the menu! Winning or purchasing a meal from Emalia's Table is a way for you to practice philanthropy!

Emalia's Table is a novel and unusual auction, one where the purpose is not to get a great item at a steal but rather to bring a wonderful evening into your life as you fund Na Keiki O Emalia. As you share a delicious meal with loved ones, you can feel good knowing you are helping many of Maui's keiki.

By participating in Emalia's Table, you are helping to change many keiki lives.  Without NKOE's groups, many children do not have a way of expressing their grief and coming to terms with the challenges and changes in their lives that the death of a loved one causes.

ABOUT NA KEIKI O EMALIA

Na Keiki O Emalia (NKOE) is a nonprofit children's bereavement program for keiki 3-18 years of age who have had a parent, sibling, relative, or close friend die.  Trained volunteers run peer support groups both in the evening (ongoing) and in Maui schools (varying duration), and all groups are at no cost to participants.  These groups are the most effective way of helping grieving youth, and NKOE's program uses The Dougy Center (TDC) of Portland, Oregon, as its model, TDC being the gold standard in the field.

Several months after the death of Emalia Brown Guard in 2012,  her mother, Brooke Brown, founded NKOE so that all children on Maui would have a resource for their healing.  Community support comes from all quarters: people who work with youth recognize the great need, and adults who had a parent die when they were young want to help so that Maui's children do not suffer unnecessarily.

NKOE has helped approximately 145 people to date and has run groups at Maui High School, Baldwin High School, and Kahului Elementary School. In the fall, NKOE will begin groups at King Kekaulike High School and Kamehameha Schools.
