PlaceholderTacos and Tequila 2026
Thank you for joining us at the beautiful BEAST Facility for COMEA's Annual Tacos & Tequila.
About the Event
COMEA Shelter’s annual Tacos & Tequila event is our largest fundraiser of the year and plays a vital role in supporting our daily operations and the essential resources we provide to our residents and the broader community. Proceeds from this event directly fund programs and services that help individuals and families experiencing homelessness, including access to safe shelter, case management, housing assistance, Social Security navigation, and support in overcoming other barriers to stability. With your generous support, COMEA can continue offering hope, dignity, and pathways forward for those in our community who need it most.
About COMEA
COMEA provides a full continuum of shelter, housing, and supportive services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Cheyenne. Our programs are designed to meet people where they are while offering clear pathways toward stability and independence.
COMEA can serve more than 100 individuals and families across multiple housing options, including 52 men and 16 women in main dormitories, 14 residents in Pay-to-Stay (PTS) dorms, 10 participants in the Transitional Living Program (TLP), and 8 residents in the Stages Program. Residents receive hot breakfast and dinner daily, sack lunches for those who work, a hot lunch on Sundays, as well as access to clothing, laundry services, and haircuts.
All participants are required to engage in weekly case management, where staff assist with securing identification, accessing benefits such as SNAP, housing assistance, Medicaid/Medicare, and Social Security, addressing health needs, and setting individualized goals toward independence. Residents also attend Journey Classes twice monthly, focusing on essential life skills including budgeting, nutrition, healthy relationships, and self-care, often featuring community guest speakers.
COMEA’s structured programs include emergency shelter; progressive Journey and Pay-to-Stay programs focused on employment, budgeting, and saving; the Transitional Living Program, which provides studio apartments and intensive case management for individuals with significant housing barriers; the Journey Family Center serving families with children; and the Stages Project, which offers affordable, independent housing units with eight currently occupied and additional units under renovation, expanding affordable housing options in Cheyenne through 2025.
Through this continuum of care, COMEA meets immediate needs while equipping individuals and families with the resources and support necessary to achieve long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
