About the Auction

With the cost of living and doing business in Vermont rising, the Rutland Herald has decided to offer businesses a chance to provide items for auction in trade for advertising dollars. In turn, the Rutland Herald will offer items for auction, where bidders can save money on local goods and services. From gift certificates and service vouchers to bigger-ticket items, this auction aims to help our readers to shop local.

NOTE TO ALL BIDDERS: Due to unforeseen circumstances, items 3501-3510 have been removed from the auction.

BIDDER/BIDDING RULES


TO BID

– You must be at least 18 years of age.

– You must be a registered user with this site.

– This is not the same user credentials as your Rutland Herald user/subscriber account. A new user account is required.

– Vouchers have no cash value and cannot be resold.

– Your bid is a contract: Place a bid only if you're serious about buying the item. If you are the winning bidder, you enter into a legally binding contract to purchase the item from the seller.

BIDDING AND BUYING

– If you are the highest bidder at the end of an auction (meeting the applicable minimum bid), and your bid is accepted, you are obligate to complete the purchase. You may purchase directly on the auction website by credit card, available online payment method, or visit the Rutland Herald office at 77 Grove Street, Rutland, during business hours (Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

– By bidding on an item you agree to be bound by the conditions of sale included in the item's description so long as those conditions of sale are not in violation of this agreement or unlawful.

– You will become the item's lawful owner upon physical receipt of a voucher or item from Rutland Herald Online Auction.

– Bids are not retractable except in exceptional circumstances, such as: when the Rutland Herald Online Auction changes the item's description after you bid; or a clear typographical error is made.

­– If you choose to bid on mature audience items or items that are restricted to adult use, you are certifying that you have the legal right to purchase such items.

ITEM PROCUREMENT

– Winners of a gift certificate or a business voucher item may pick them up at the Rutland Herald office. (77 Grove Street, Rutland, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

– Winners of physical items will need a Rutland Herald Online Auction item voucher. These may be picked up at the Rutland Herald office to then be presented at the business where the item is sold.

– Gift certificates, business vouchers, and Rutland Herald Online Auction item vouchers may be sent by mail upon receipt of payment and written request. Purchases of $300 or more will be sent certified mail. Purchases under $300 will be sent regular mail. Please allow two weeks for items to be delivered. 

– The Rutland Herald is not responsible for and will not replace any lost items after items are mailed out. Treat your voucher like cash, it is not replaceable.

SALES TAX

– Where applicable, you will be charged 6% sales tax when you purchase an item.

REFUNDS

– All sales are final.

– Rutland Herald will only refund purchases of vouchers for businesses that are out of business within one year of purchase.

– By purchasing any business voucher or Rutland Herald Online Auction item voucher, you agree to use your voucher within the expiration time. Rutland Herald does not offer refunds and is not responsible for expired vouchers.

– If you have an expired voucher you must print your proof of purchase (your invoice) and bring it to the business to receive the value of what you spent for the voucher.
