About the Auction

BID ON HISTORY, SUPPORT PRESERVATION through our Vintage Radio Auction. 

FULLY REPAIRED AND RESTORED.  Don’t miss the chance to bid on rare and historic radios from the 1930s to the 1980s, all in support the California Historical Radio Society. All auction item sales are subject to applicable state and local sales tax, which will be calculated and added to the final invoice, unless a valid tax exemption is provided. Shipping and delivery costs are the responsibility of the winning bidder and are not included in the final 'bid'; these charges will be billed separately and must be paid in full prior to shipment, unless shipping arranged independently.

Safety & Commercial Terms for Purchase

Everyone should be aware that vintage electrical or electronic equipment has the potential of being dangerous or deadly.  If you plan to buy any such items (from the Auction, Clearance area, or Museum Store please take note:  

Warning of Danger and Disclaimer of Warrantees by the California Historical Radio Society  

The old radios (or electronic parts) that CHRS sells are sold for display as antiques. They may or may not be repairable or improvable by a qualified technician. Each is a display piece, and each is sold (and merchantable) only for that purpose, not operation. The fitness of each for its particular purpose is limited to the purpose only of display, not operation.

The seller makes no other warrantees or guarantees and the buyer agrees by purchase, having had the opportunity to read this notice, to these terms and assumes all risk of any operation, specifically without limitation, death by electrocution as a result of unsafe old designs that failed to isolate parts of old radios etc. from AC line voltage.  Such an old radio may or may not have complied with the safety standards of its day, and it can be made safer to operate only to a limited extent by use of an isolation transformer, and/or other isolating alterations. As with any piece of vintage electronics equipment, if buyer chooses to try to operate it after assessment and/or improvement by a qualified technician, it is always important to unplug it when it is not in use and to have it connected to a power strip or other means to cut off its power and to do so when it is not in use. No item of vintage electronics equipment should be left operating or electrified but unattended, for risk of electrocution to others and risk of fire.

By completing a purchase having had the benefit of this notice, buyer assumes all these specified risks and all other risks in connection with each item purchased. Seller warrants only fitness for the purpose of display, and merchantability for no other purpose, and buyer agrees to all of these terms through their purchase of an item in this auction. 

 

Commercial Liability 

By participating in this auction of vintage radios, all bidders acknowledge and accept that the maximum aggregate commercial liability of the auction organizer, its affiliates, officers, employees, or agents, for any claim or loss arising out of or related to the transaction, shall be strictly limited to the total value of the successful bid for the item in question. No party shall be entitled to recover any indirect, consequential, punitive, or incidental damages in connection with any transaction under these terms, to the fullest extent permitted by law
