We’re excited to be back at Brick House Blue in Dublin’s Bridge Park for the second year. Our silent art auction party will be held 6:30-9:30 p.m. You’ll enjoy incredible art and yummy appetizers & drinks—all while knowing you’re helping to save the sick and injured shelter dogs! And, the accompanying online auction will start on Friday, Sept. 5 and close on Monday, Sept. 8.
You’ll see photos and descriptions below of the great auction items. As we did previously for our other events, we’re using mobile bidding with ClickBid. Register to bid now, so you'll be ready to bid when the auction starts. Please note that if you set up an account for a previous event, your account should still be active (including the bidder number), but you may need to re-enter your credit card information.
The opening bid is listed on the item. You can place a bid or you can set a maximum bid so that the auction software will bid for you throughout the week up to your maximum bid. You’ll receive notifications when you’ve been outbid, and you can increase your bid if you wish.
Thank you all for your donations! Your support for the shelter dogs has been amazing!
If you check out yourself, you can use the credit card you used for registration. We will be in touch with you after the event to arrange for contactless pick-up or drop-off. Shipping is available! We can ship most of the items, if desired, at your cost.
Meet Benji, a recent Friends of the Shelter dog. Benji is a 5-year-old pittie mix who arrived Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center emaciated. He went to a foster home to gain some weight, and the medical team was excited with his weight gain. His foster family recently brought him back to the shelter for his neuter surgery, and they shared that they thought something was wrong with Benji. The medical team took X-rays, and they unfortunately found suspicious material in Benji's abdomen.
Friends of the Shelter funded Benji’s surgery at SOS of Ohio. During the surgery, the veterinarians were able to successfully remove the material, which turned out to be a baby bottle nipple and a large piece of cloth! It appears that those materials were in his intestines since before he arrived at the shelter and where what was causing him to be emaciated when he arrived. We’re so grateful to his foster family for being alert to his symptoms!
The obstruction also caused Benji to have life-threatening anemia with an incredibly low red blood cell count and a very high white blood cell count of 65,000! The surgeon found that his intestines have several spots where they had ruptured and then healed, leading to the infection and anemia. It is truly amazing that Benji is alive! He's spent a couple of days at SOS to recover, and the medical team was checking his red blood cell count every couple of hours to make sure it was still rising.
Benji's foster dad and his daughters came to visit him at SOS the day after Benji’s surgery, which we're sure that was the best medicine for him! And, now Benji is back at home with his foster family, who will be adopting him once he is medicallly cleared. We can’t thank his foster family enough for all they did to help him through this! And, huge thanks to SOS of Ohio for saving his life!
All of our donors allow this type of extraordinary medical care to be possible for the shelter dogs—we can’t do it without you! Thank you for giving dogs like Benji the second chance they need.
