Glass Artist Travis Adams
Travis Adams has embarked on a winding journey to becoming a glass artist and maker. While studying at Centre College, Adams was introduced to glass by renowned artist Stephen Rolfe Powell. He honed his glass skills as lead assistant to Powell for several years after graduation. He went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture with a concentration in glass from Illinois State University. During his tenure at Centre and ISU, he traveled to China for expanded education and academic research.
While at Centre he studied broodmare pricing at Keeneland’s auctions, ventured briefly into the financial sector upon graduation, and helped establish a small non-profit before fully yielding to the call of glass. Though Adams lived in and explored numerous locations to establish his practice, he has made his way back to Kentucky to launch Trifecta Design LLC in collaboration with leading, contemporary designer, Tomas Frenes. The one-of-a-kind glass studio experience known as Trifecta: Glass – Art – Lounge in Lexington, KY now serves as Adams’ home studio and hub of continued exploration.

The Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund (PDJF) is an independent charitable organization that provides financial assistance to Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries resulting in permanent disabilities. The PDJF was created in 2006 as a collaborative effort of leaders representing race tracks, jockeys, horsemen’s groups, and others within horse racing. In 2009, the PDJF became a freestanding 501(c)(3) public charity governed by a board of directors comprised of stakeholders from a broad cross-section of the Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing industries.
The PDJF provides much-needed financial support to permanently disabled jockeys who have given so much to the sport of horse racing. Currently the PDJF supports approximately 50 former riders. Since its founding in 2006 PDJF has disbursed over $15 million dollars in aid.
