About Our Event
Break the Barriers 2022 is MnCAN's MAIN fundraising event for the year!
As MnCAN prepares to grow into its next phase….will you join us in making MnCAN STRONG?
This is a year of transition with our founding executive director retiring. Support from Breaking Barriers 2022 will go to the MnCAN Strong! Legacy Fund, putting MnCAN in a position of strength to grow into the future under new leadership. With your help we can support more people with aphasia!
Join our community as we hear updates from our outgoing Executive Director, Julia Halvorson, and meet our new executive director. Keynote Speaker, Gina Andraschko will inspire us with her story as we ask for support of the MnCAN Strong! Legacy Fund to continue this important work.
This year's event is a HYBRID event! There is limited capacity for the in-person event and if you prefer, you can watch from home or even host a watch party! To watch the livestream program, bid and donate remotely please REGISTER using this link.

What is Aphasia? It is the loss of language in varying degrees of all forms - understanding, speaking, reading, writing, math calculations. It is most often due to stroke or head injury but can occur in a progressive form called Primary Progressive Aphasia, which worsens over time, unlike with stroke or brain injury survivors. Aphasia does not affect intellect, which is so frustrating for survivors who can't say what they mean but know what they mean!
Where is the event held?
Old Stewart is a historic church in White Bear Lake that was refurbished into a private home where the owners are committed to opening up their stage area to various community events. It is located at 4820 Stewart Ave, White Bear Lake, MN 55110. Parking is on the street. There are steps leading up to the front doorway. Handicapped drop-off and entry is in back of the building through garage.
