2022 Sharing the Spirit of Aloha Gala
It is a time of change for the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi (JCCH). The JCCH is focused on perpetuating and teaching the key core kachikan values that our ancestors brought with them from Japan to current and future generations. Focusing on concepts like sekinin (responsibility) and kansha (gratitude), our programs are changing with the times that the last year brought us.
With new team members on board, we continue to blaze a new path forward. In 2021, we grew our historical collection with over 1,000 items and documents, continued building our oral history collections, assisted over 60 families with their koseki translation, and resumed other services with the help of our team of wonderful volunteers.
And while the historical exhibition remains closed, we created a virtual tour of Okage Sama De videos for our YouTube channel (https://bit.ly/JCCHYouTube) and held our 2022 New Year’s ‘Ohana Festival online. We’ll continue to create new digital content to educate the world about the Hawai‘i Japanese American experience.
Your tax-deductible donation will help to support these activities in the coming months. JCCH remains committed to preserving our legacy to honor the past, celebrate our rich cultural heritage, and teach future generations.
Thank you for your continued support of the JCCH!
