King Kalākaua's 150th Jubilee Celebration

The Friends of ʻIolani Palace 2024 Fundraiser

About the Fundraiser

About the Fundraiser

The 150th Jubilee Celebration marks the anniversary of King David Kalākaua's accession to the throne.

King Kalākaua was a remarkable aliʻi who only wanted the best for his people. We highlight the stories, people, and partners that contribute to his vision, seeking modern inventions for the lāhui, he also remained close to his roots with hula, music and literature.

About the Event

Funds raised through sponsorships, donations, and silent auction directly support the mission of The Friends of ʻIolani Palace in preserving, restoring, interpreting, sharing, and celebrating the unique cultural, historical, and spiritual qualities of ʻIolani Palace and its grounds for the benefit of native Hawaiians, the people of Hawaiʻi, and the world.

About Us

Since 1966, The Friends of ʻIolani Palace has worked to repair and restore Kalākaua's magnificent ʻIolani Palace and to share the stories of the King and other aliʻi with Hawaiʻi and the world.

Today, The Friends of ʻIolani Palace has been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). This is the highest recognition given to museums in this country. Of the 33,000 museums, only a little over 1,000 are accredited. ʻIolani Palace is one of five (5) museums in Hawaiʻi accredited by the AAM.

This recognition highlights our dedication to excellence and our high professional standards. It is a credit to our staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to share the story of our Aliʻi, make the history and cultural resources available to the public, and care for our collections, which includes the largest cultural item of all - the Palace itself.
