On June 6th, we will gather at Harriet Island for Huddy’s Hike. Hiking was something we loved to do as a family with Hudson, and this event is our way of bringing people together in his honor.
If our story has touched you in any way, we would be so grateful to have you join us. Whether you walk beside us, donate in Hudson’s memory, or simply help share his story, your support helps us move forward our mission of finding answers for families like ours.
We know nothing will ever bring our boy back, but we are committed to turning our love for Hudson into lasting change.

Just over two a years ago, on the night of Jan. 7th 2024, we put our perfectly healthy 1.5 year old little boy to sleep, only to find him non-responsive in the middle of the night. After a thorough autopsy, doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with Hudson. They didn't find a single virus in his system and have no explanation for his death. Even after doing in-depth genetic testing, we still have no answers. His death is now classified as Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).
Hudson was the sweetest, happiest little boy who brought his family so much joy. He loved the outdoors, dancing with mom and dad and eating just about everything! Hudson was thrilled he was about to be a big brother and our hearts will forever be shattered as we navigate life without him. But we are now the memory keepers of his beautiful life and we’ll do everything to keep his love and light alive. Won’t you please help us?
This year, we officially launched the Hudson Henriksen Foundation to carry forward meaningful work in honor of our sweet boy. The Foundation’s mission is to raise awareness, support critical research, and provide resources and healing opportunities for families affected by the sudden and unexplained loss of a child.
Through Huddy’s Hike, the funds we raise are thoughtfully directed across three areas: we support the SUDC Foundation in its work to raise awareness and walk alongside grieving families; we contribute to the Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Registry & Research Collaborative—the largest registry of its kind, and the study Hudson’s DNA is part of—because advancing research is essential to one day finding answers; and we invest directly into the Hudson Henriksen Foundation’s Owlet Cares program, which provides Owlet Dream Socks® to families who have experienced the loss of a child. These socks monitor a child’s oxygen and pulse rates, and it is our hope that they offer even a small sense of peace during an incredibly tender and difficult journey.
The Hike
The Hike will officially begin at 1:30 pm from the river walk side of the venue.
It's a go-at-your-own-pace, 1 mile loop along the beautiful Mississippi River. Harriet Island offers beautiful views of the St. Paul city skyline while still being immersed in nature, which Hudson loved. This walk is leisurely, simple and fun for all ages. Strollers are welcome!
Huddy’s Hike will be a fun-filled day for all ages, featuring a variety of kids’ games, a bounce house, photo booth, face painting, balloon art, and live music for everyone to enjoy!
New this year — we're partnering with Coco's Heart Dog Rescue. They'll have adoptable dogs there for you to pet, play with and even take home!
Get your taste buds ready! Huddy's Hike will have a smorgasbord of food options for you to choose from! Back by popular demand Waffle Bar will be bringing there serving yummy ice cream, boba tea and waffles! We'll also have smashburgers by the Angry Line Cook and Salvadoran Pupusas from Que Tal Street Eats! Be sure to come hungry!
The Grace Notes will be performing live music during the event.
We will be holding a silent auction. Click here if you'd like to donate an item or basket. Thank you!
This event wouldn't be possible without the generosity of our community. Thank you to the amazing businesses and organizations who are sponsoring Huddy's Hike.

SUDC stands for Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood. Each year as many as 500 kids die suddenly and without explanation. There are at least 75 families here in Minnesota that have lost a child this way. Many of them will be honored at Huddy's Hike.
The SUDC Foundation is the only organization worldwide that exists to raise awareness, fund research and offer support and outreach to families who've lost a child this way. Our family has found an immense amount of support in this organization and the families we've met through here.
SUDC Facts:
Most often, a seemingly healthy child goes to sleep and never wakes up.
At this time, we do not know what causes SUDC, how to predict it or how to prevent it.
A medical examiner or coroner could rule a child’s death SUDC when s/he completes a thorough evaluation and finds no other cause of death.
