Hoops for Hope 2025, a Celebration of Culture and Accomplishment By choosing culturally respectful fashion options, you align yourself with the event’s spirit while also contributing positively by supporting Native artisans.  Business casual or cocktail hour attire is the appropriate attire for the gala. Opt for earth tones like deep reds, browns, greens, or blues, which can be reminiscent of nature and cultural art without appropriating specific symbols. Wearing jewelry or accessories made by Native American artisans supports Native businesses and adds an authentic touch to your outfit.  A scarf or shawl with a Native-American inspired design, purchased from a Native artist, can add to your ensemble. Please avoid wearing traditional Native American attire or costumes, as it may be seen as cultural appropriation. Enjoy the Hoops for Hope gala!

Tempe, AZ native and member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (Dakota/Lakota Nation), Kylie was given the name Ohitika Win — “Brave Woman.” A 2025 Harvard graduate with a degree in Sociology and a Secondary in Ethnicity and Migration Rights, she was honored with Harvard’s Emerging Global Leader Award and represented Indigenous voices at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

A two-time world champion in martial arts, Kylie uses her platform of over 100,000 followers to uplift women and advocate for equity and representation. Her journey began with RISE Scholars, which helped open the door to higher education. We are honored to celebrate Kylie for her achievements, her cultural pride, and her commitment to empowering the next generation to dream boldly.
