Join us on March 1st as we celebrate over 40 years of supporting the youth of Holy Trinity Church. Your participation makes a profound impact on the lives of young individuals and helps as we embark on a mission to empower them academically and spiritually. Our fundraising campaign aims to benefit youth by providing opportunities for further education after high school and offering transformative experiences like religious and mission-oriented retreats in a variety of local and international locations.

About the Foundation

Holy Trinity has a long tradition of supporting its young people.

In 1985, Sister Rose Zita Rosonke, Sister Josephine Konrad, and Father Thomas Fahey established a scholarship for Holy Trinity students to help cover books and other college expenses. For the first time, four students were awarded a few hundred dollars, along with the promise of prayers from the parish as a gesture of support and goodwill as they embarked on their college journey.

In its early years, the scholarship relied on parish donations and remained small, yet it made a meaningful impact for the students it could support.

When Father Tom Sheridan and Father Gene Sullivan arrived, they continued to encourage support for the scholarship. Along with Youth Minister Mark Horan, they made an annual pilgrimage to Laramie, where they would treat Holy Trinity students to dinner after celebrating Mass with them at the Newman Center. This act was a reminder to our students that, even when they were away, the support of their parish community remained unwavering.

As the cost of higher education rose, Father Tom Cronkleton recognized that the small scholarships were no longer enough to keep up with the increasing expenses. He began working to build a larger fund that could provide more substantial scholarships for years to come. During this time, two dedicated moms—Brenda Hatanalas and Tammy Tschacher—came up with the idea for a Spirits Tasting event. Working with Youth Minister Cameron Smith, this fundraiser was designed to raise enough money to help fund a pilgrimage to Rome for any Holy Trinity student interested in making the journey. The remaining funds would be added to the scholarship corpus. Over time, these funds were also used to send students to World Youth Day with pilgrims from across the globe.

For the past ten years, this fundraiser has achieved just that. It has enabled students to go on service trips to places like Guatemala and participate in various youth ministry activities, while also supplementing the scholarships awarded to Holy Trinity high schoolers.

After 40 years, the parish has been able to send students on trips to Germany, Poland, Italy, and South America. These students have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, biologists, teachers, engineers, and so much more. Some recipients have remained in Cheyenne, continuing to worship at Holy Trinity and even joining the Scholarship Committee. Others have moved across the country or around the world. But no matter where life has taken them, they carry with them the encouragement of countless Holy Trinity parishioners who have supported their journeys—both financially and prayerfully.

As we look to the future, let us continue to advocate for our Holy Trinity young people, ensuring they have the resources and prayers they need to become the Church of tomorrow.
