NIAD's Biannual Fashion Show

NIAD presents Glamour Moves, our signature fashion show and runway event at our 23rd Street Studios in Richmond — NIAD's answer to the Met Gala, and a runway celebration all our own.

Glamour Moves embodies the spirit of our organization: a joyful celebration where 200+ community members gather to cheer on NIAD artists as they walk their own designs down the runway, feeling beautiful, creative, and empowered.

The afternoon features original garments, jewelry, and accessories designed and modeled by NIAD artists, alongside live performances, cocktails, food, an exhibition, and a community party in our gallery and courtyard sculpture garden.

Can't make it in person? You can still join in on the fun! Bid in the Glamour Moves silent auction starting August 12th, or donate to support NIAD artists both on and off the runway.

Getting here: The Paz y Unidad Fiestas Patrias Parade will take place earlier in the day on September 12th. While we expect the parade route to be clear by the time Glamour Moves begins, please allow extra time to park, or utilize public transportation when possible. NIAD is located off the Richmond Bart Station and street parking will be available the day of the event.

A note to our community: This year's fashion show falls on Rosh Hashanah, and we know many in our community will be observing that day. With a 2:30pm start, we are hopeful the timing may still work for some who wish to attend after services — though we know that won't be the case for everyone. For anyone who can join us, we'd love to have you — and for those who can't, we're planning to share photos so you can still feel part of the festivities. Wishing all who are observing a meaningful Rosh Hashanah.

Event Accessibility

ASL and Spanish interpretation will be provided for performances and other mic’d activities.

Habrá interpretación al español y al ASL durante las representaciones y otras actividades principales.

There are no stairs to enter the NIAD building. The building is one level and has push-button opening doors. The sidewalk has curb cut-outs and is wide enough for a wheelchair. The galleries and studio are all located in the same building.

The Center is located on a busy street with frequent traffic noise that can be heard inside the galleries. During events, the studio is filled with conversation, music, bright lighting, and smells produced by art materials.

A low-sensory room with seating is located off the NIAD courtyard. Sound will be minimized as much as possible.

Our restrooms are accessible to people using mobility devices. We have a gender neutral restroom and an adult changing station.

Mask-wearing is encouraged.

NIAD Art Center is located at 551 23rd Street in Richmond, California. It is located on the left side of the street, between Barrett Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Public transportation and affordable on-demand ride services are available.
