About EWDC
About EWDC
For more than 30 years, Everybody Wins DC has used books to help children build the literacy and social-emotional skills needed to thrive in the classroom and in life.
Through one-on-one mentoring, read-aloud events, and free book distributions, our students become stronger readers, enthusiastic learners, and confident individuals. But that’s not all. Our programs connect volunteers with their communities, provide schools with supplemental support, and promote empathy, understanding, and inclusion. When children read with EWDC, everybody wins.

With over 20 years of partnership, thousands of volunteer hours, hundreds of books donated, and tens of thousands of dollars raised from auction package donations and sponsorships, there is one group that’s dedicated themselves in every aspect to our students’ reading journeys: Monumental Sports & Entertainment.
We’re thrilled to announce that Monumental Sports & Entertainment are our 2026 Read to Dream Community Champions. Kimberly Marcus, Vice President of Access, Impact & Inclusion at Monumental Sports & Entertainment and EWDC board member, says:
“Monumental Sports & Entertainment is honored to be recognized as the 2026 Community Champions. For more than 20 years, our organizations have partnered through volunteerism and meaningful support to strengthen our community. Together, we share a commitment to ensuring that children across our region have the opportunity to discover the joy and power of reading.”
2026 Distinguished Service Honoree
2026 Distinguished Service Honoree: Amazon's Black Employee Network (BEN-DMV)
From our first connection in 2023 to today, Amazon's Black Employee Network (BEN-DMV) members have helped EWDC bring the power of reading to our students through meaningful and creative engagements that truly support our communities. Whether it be serving as guest readers at StoryTime, participating in career day activities, including EWDC in BEN-DMV service events, collecting books for students, and more, these Amazon team members set an example for how to give back with intention and truly make a difference.
To honor their dedication to our students, we’re proud to recognize Amazon's Black Employee Network (BEN-DMV) as our 2026 Read to Dream Distinguished Service honorees! Jessica Reyes, Director of Community Engagement, BEN-DMV says:
“This partnership with Everybody Wins DC has been incredibly meaningful for our BEN-DMV community. Our members don't just volunteer, they build genuine connections with students that inspire a love of reading and open doors to new possibilities. These experiences have deepened our employees’ commitment to service and reinforced the bonds within our community. We're grateful to EWDC for this recognition and for the opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of these students.”
2026 Mentor of the Year
2026 Mentor of the Year: Molly Huie
In anticipation of Read to Dream 2026, we’re thrilled to announce we’re bringing back our Mentor of the Year award for the first time in five years to honor Power Readers mentor Molly Huie!
At the heart of mentoring is connection — and Molly and her mentee, Blayr, bring that to life. Since 2022, they’ve read together each year, building a relationship that has changed both of their lives. Molly shares:
“It's an incredible honor to be named Mentor of the Year. Reading has always been an important part of my life, and getting to share the joy of books with my mentee is the highlight of my week. I've been reading with Blayr for several years and watching him grow both as a reader and a person has been a privilege I cannot overstate. EWDC does amazing work bringing together a community of readers and getting to be even a small part of that is tremendously meaningful and rewarding.”
