Dragonfly is a fundraising event on Nantucket created to inspire change with mental illness. The 9th annual Dragonfly will be held on Saturday, August 1st, 2026 at the Great Harbor Yacht Club.

The fundraiser was started after founder, Kate Kling, lost her sister, Christine McGugan, a mother of three girls, to suicide.  Kate channeled her grief into Dragonfly, and to date, Dragonfly has donated $1.8 million to mental health organizations on Nantucket since 2016

Proceeds from Dragonfly 2026 will be donated to Fairwinds – Nantucket’s Behavioral Health Center, an agency that provides confidential, quality professional care to adults and youth on Nantucket who seek mental health and addiction services. All are welcome, regardless of ability to pay. Launched on January 3rd, 2023 and in collaboration with Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Nantucket Police Department, Nantucket Fire Department, the Town of Nantucket, the Schools and other community partners, Fairwinds established a vital Crisis Response and Crisis Stabilization system that offers immediate care 24/7, 365 day per year, anywhere on island. Fairwinds serves 1,000+ families.
