Tune into 101.1 ESPN Peoria for the Central Illinois Food Drive Radio-thon with Jim Mattson and Tim van Straten on Thursday, April 30 from 7 am to 7 pm! 100% of the proceeds from the radio-thon will go to benefit the Peoria Area Food Bank.

Over the course of the day, Jim and Tim will interview local athletes and celebrities throughout the day including Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Thome, American Reality Television Personality Colton Underwood, Bradley University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Brian Wardle and play-by-play voice of the Chicago Bulls, Chuck Swirsky.

Bid on several items up for auction over the 12 hour period! Bidding starts at 7 am on April 30. Donations in any amount can also be made by texting AMPCARES to 56651.

The Peoria Area Food Bank currently serves approx. 25,000 people each month in Peoria, Tazewell, and Mason Counties. Peoria Area Food Bank provides 80 very active pantries, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters  with large quantities of food from name brand manufacturers and USDA commodities on a daily basis. They also operate two mobile food pantries in Mason County and assist eight pantries that provide backpacks to hundreds of children on the weekend. The backpacks are dispersed to qualifying children on Friday afternoon by various schools.
