Hosted by the JC Raulston Arboretum and Juniper Level Botanic Garden
When the auction goes live, we'll have hundreds of plants ready for bidding. Plants will be added as we get them, including the days of the Southeastern Plant Symposium itself. Because when cool plant people get together, they share cool plants!
Check back often. It's a botanical treasure hunt you don't want to miss!
Best of all, this online auction is open to everyone—no symposium registration required to bid and win.
Ilex myrtifolia 'Duling's Variegated'
Variegated myrtle-leaf holly
An amazing myrtle-leaf holly with a bold white stripe around each leaf. We haven't grown it for long but it makes a dazzling display already as a young plant.
Primulina ligustiformis
We've been growing this little African violet relative outdoors for years. It makes a flat rosette of succulent leaves topped for long periods with dainty purple flowers held on wiry stems.
Phoenix ×golkoyanahybrid
date palm
A natural hybrid of P. dactylifera × P. theophrasti.
Grows on the Golkoy Peninsula on the Aegean coast of southwestern Turkey. Supposedly the hardiest form of date palm, perhaps even into zone 8. We haven't tried it outdoors ourselves yet.
Helwingia japonica (heavy variegation)
Variegated Japanese helwingia
We acquired this beauty in 2024 in Japan from a specialty nursery where it drew us like a beacon. The foliage is heavily speckled with gold making it almost more gold-leafed than variegated. It has been a quick grower in the nursery. As an added bonus, the odd flowers form in the center of each leaf.
Ginkgo biloba 'California Sunset'
variegated ginkgo
A slow-growing, compact, upright form. Leaves are quite narrow and emerge pale yellow then mature to dark green with golden stripes.
Eriobotrya japonica (white splash)
Variegated loquat
This is one of the much lusted after variegated forms of the evergreen fruiting loquat. We have grown this plant for nearly 2 decades with no problems.
