Dr. Ben and Jean have shared more than 60 years of partnership grounded in a deep commitment to family, faith, and community service. During his 25-year tenure at Denver Health, Dr. Ben led the blood bank through the emergence of HIV and AIDS, championing the critical need for a safe, volunteer-based blood supply and helping transition away from paid donations. He later extended his impact through leadership at Bonfils Blood Bank (now Vitalant), advancing education and fundraising efforts. Together, Ben and Jean have supported numerous organizations, including Volunteers of America, Judi’s House, Denver Health, YMCA of Metropolitan Denver, Park Hill United Methodist Church, Beloit College, and the Center for Health and Hope, where Ben has served on the board since 2007. Jean’s career in community affairs and social impact communications, including her leadership at 9NEWS, strengthened their collective reach and influence.
