Donald Paterson practiced at Creative Growth from 1974 until 1997. He observed the popular icons of culture and translated them in unique ways in his work. Common themes include Elvis, King Tut, cats, birds, vampires, Cadillacs, palm trees, cacti, skyscapes, and pyramids. In 1984, Joan Brown and Donald Paterson exhibited together in a joint show at the Creative Growth Gallery.
Paterson’s work has been exhibited in California at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Jose State University Gallery, and Oakland Museum of California.
