William Scott is a painter and social theorist who creates utopic visions of past, present, and future lives. Scott joined Creative Growth in 1992 and his earliest works feature architectural renderings of his childhood neighborhood (San Francisco’s Bayview-Hunters Point), city skylines, and plans for improved civic buildings. His fundamental interest lies in reimagining private and public life as new, better, peaceful, and wholesome. Scott has had solo exhibitions at White Columns and Ortuzar Projects in New York. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; MADmusée, Liège, Belgium; The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York; Oakland Museum of California; and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. His work has been exhibited at Hayward Gallery, London; Museum of Everything, London; Gavin Brown’s enterprise, New York; Ricco Maresca, New York; Gallery Paule Anglim, San Francisco; and Rena Bransten Gallery, San Francisco.
