“Muttons” are one-of-a- kind mittens made from recycled wool sweaters by Dr. Ryan Deignan's mother, Carol. The wool has been "machine felted" giving it extra warmth and water resistance. They are lined with the softest polar fleece and adorned with lively decorative buttons on the cuff. Muttons are super warm and great for a Minnesota winter. Teachers especially love them for recess duty! In making the mittens, the artist uses sweaters with a fiber content of 80-100% wool, which comes from sheep. Thus, the inspiration for the name "Muttons”!
