Two of Detroit's most impressive places to watch movies are the DFT (Detroit Film Theatre) at the Detroit Institute of Arts and the amazing Redford Theatre

Since its inception in January of 1974, the Detroit Film Theatre has presented of thousands of first-run and classic motion pictures in the DIA’s 1,000-seat, 1927 vintage auditorium. All year long, the DFT presents a carefully curated, globe-spanning selection of exciting and visionary cinema by established and first-time directors, as well as themed programs shown in association with current DIA exhibitions and in partnership with other local and international institutions. You are bidding on Four Complimentary Tickets to the DFT, good for regular films with available seating, and cannot be redeemed for the Oscar Shorts or film festivals. The Redford Theatre opened in January 1928 and has been in operation ever since. Current film programming at the Redford Theatre consists of a bi-weekly movie series that ranges from silent films through the musicals of the '40s, '50s and '60s to some films from the 2000s. Spring and Fall festivals featuring films of the Three Stooges have grown in popularity. You can always catch wonderful classic film series and organ concerts produced by MCTOS (Motor City Theatre Organ Society). AND their concession stand might just be the best in the state!
