About Artwork & Artist Bio: Richard-Jonathan Nelson is a multi-disciplinary artist who uses textiles digital manipulation to create worlds of speculative identity. His work is multi-layered, chromatically intense and mixes the natural world with reference to hoodoo, queer culture, and Afro-Futurism. Born in Savannah, Georgia (1987) and working in Oakland, CA , he has had solo shows at both Yossi Milo Gallery and the Museum of the African Diaspora. His work has also been featured in New American painting and will be shown in the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design, San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles.
