I have recently begun applying a new drawing technique to more figurative subjects, of which this piece is an example.

Lisa Woods is an innovative mixed media artist who has exhibited widely throughout the Southeast.  Her Juried/Group Exhibitions include Art on Paper at the Weatherspoon Art Museum; the Elements (Jack Stratton, Guest Curator), and Grand Arts (Sean Kelly, Guest Curator) Exhibitions at Greenhill Center for NC Art; the 23rd Annual Raleigh Fine Arts Society Artists Exhibition, Meredith College (Miriam Shapiro, juror); Assemble/Disassemble at Valencia College, Orlando and at the Carrack Modern Durham; Center Gallery; Feminist Legacy/Feminist Future and the Annual Founders Exhibition at the African American Atelier in Greensboro.  She has had 2 and 3 person shows at T. A. G. Galleries; High Point, NC; Gallery 115 and the Canterbury School Gallery, Greensboro, NC; Bronwyn-Merritt Gallery in Carrboro, NC; Elon University, and Gallery 291, Greenville, SC.

Lisa has had solo exhibitions at the Chattahoochee Art Museum, LaGrange, GA; at the Sea Island Gallery at the University of South Carolina at Beauford and The Artery, Center for Visual Arts, the UNC-G Elliot University Center Gallery, all in Greensboro.  Most recently she had a solo show of recent drawings at the Artery Gallery in Greensboro.

Lisa received her MFA in printmaking from the University of Georgia.  She retired in 2018 as chair of the Visual Arts department at the Weaver Academy for Performing and Visual Arts, a public, audition only arts high school in Greensboro,  where she was an award winning instructor of Visual Arts.  She is currently an adjunct professor of art at High Point University.

Lisa is married, with one son, 2 cats and a dog.  In her spare time, Lisa is a vocalist and plays washboard and keyboards with local musicians.
