This wild fern has thick textured, evergreen fronds that are crested and distorted on their top third like an elk's antlers. We have found the tongue ferns to be excellent garden plants growing best on a slight slope in evenly moist soil. They can also be grown quite well in containers and brought indoors for the winter.
