From Issima, who are long-time fans of Hydrangea esoterica, were excited to read back in 2008 in The Plantsman about Cardiandra × agricola, a cross between Cardiandra alternifolia and Cardiandra formosana performed at Crug Farm (from plants they had collected in the wild, no less!). and began looking at their catalog annually for availability. After five years with no availability, the folks at Issima realized they’d have to do it myself. This clone was selected due to its vigor, upright habit, flower production and sepal size. Best in light shade and moist, well drained soil.
