Common name: Fantasy Japanese crepe myrtle

Selected by JC Raulston for its upright form and spectacular bark, 'Fantasy' has remained a signature specimen at the Arboretum ever since. In summer cinnamon brown bark peels in sheets revealing smooth orange-red bark. In June it's covered with white flowers. Leaves are gold in fall and are resistant to powdery mildew.
