JACKSON'S TOMB

While Nashville artist Michael Shane Neal is renowned for his portraiture, he brings the same skill and brushwork to his landscapes and still lifes, often painted from life.

The tomb in Rachel’s Garden is a very special place on The Hermitage property. When Rachel Jackson died suddenly in December 1828, just days after Andrew Jackson’s election, he had yet to make any preparations for their final resting place. Jackson decided to bury Rachel in her garden at The Hermitage, as it was her favorite place. His remains lie beside her.

Michael Shane Neal shares his oil on canvas painting of Jackson’s Tomb on the grounds of The Hermitage, painted en plein air. We have to say our special thanks to Shane for his generosity in donating this painting. Not only is he a gifted artist, he is also a loyal trustee of the Andrew Jackson Foundation.

This is your opportunity to own a Michael Shane Neal painting and join the artist in supporting The Hermitage!

Details: Oil painting is 20” x 16.” With frame is 26 5/8” x 22 5/8.”
