Grizzly Bear Viewing: Throughout September and October at Chilko Lake we have a unique access to grizzly bear viewing in a place where so few others are crowding your experience that bears actually outnumber humans on the water. Surrounded by spruce, fir and fiery fall aspen, cutting through crystal-clear, still water, you will be an eye-witness to one of Mother Nature’s greatest spectacles. Where river meets alpine lake, the azure blue waters begin to burst with a million speckles of blood red sockeye salmon coming to spawn. It is a humbling experience to watch the iconic Grizzly Bear come to feed in its natural habitat, to see mothers with cubs splashing playfully in the water while bald eagles swoop overhead scouring for scraps.
