This stunning African violet relative hails from the Pyrenees Mountains in Spain. These plants should be given well-drained soil in the light shade to dappled light. Their extremely small (4" wide) African violet like rosette will send up large purple flowers with golden centers in mid spring. This plant has been distinguished with the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Like most Gesnerids, it is almost completely unknown in Southeastern horticulture.
