Meade A Logan was born in Harrisburg PA in 1917. He grew up in central Pennsylvania and served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. After the war, Meade attended and graduated from the Philadelphia Museum College of Art and returned to the Harrisburg area. He was employed as a commercial artist for several years before starting his own commercial art business in Camp Hill. PA.
In 1956, Meade along with brother George and 5 her area artists founded the Seven Lively Artists group. The group soon organized their first exhibition in November 1957 at the McCormic Anex of the Harrisburg Public Library. The group regularly met for lunch during the workweek and on weekends, took to the hills, riverbanks and city streets to paint "en plain air" While other "plain air" painting groups existed in the state and nation at the time, these artists were the first to bring the distinctive style of art to the forefront in the Harrisburg area.
The Seven Lively Artists has become one of the most enduring artist groups in the United States and most beloved groups of Pennsylvanian artists. The original seven increased membership to over 40 artists, and created life long friendships.
