Oil On Linen Panel
"Seasons Change"
15'' x 18"
An autumn morning in Jekyll Island State Park, GA...painted on site, Plein Air, when the sun was kissing the clear water.
"After decades in communications and professional politics, my observer’s soul turned to painting when we resettled in South Carolina in 2012. The scenes are mostly of our Lowcountry landscape - the marshes, streams and people here and the boats that ply its rivers and coastline. But I also return to New England to capture its beauty and those scenes so long in my life. Truly there’s not a day in the coastal southeast that doesn’t drip with beauty and emotion and there’s not a day in New England that doesn’t recall its strong revolutionary spirit. The light, the mood, the subtle beauty of a storm-drenched marsh or a snow-draped dune, that’s the world I roam in now. My paintings reflect these twin locations, more similar than not in their mood and simplicity."
