Dimensions: 9 3/4" X 3"
This bowl is made of Little Loafers clay from Highwater Clays in Asheville, NC. The individual coils of clay are colored with slips and underglazes before coiling. The clear Amaco glaze adds shine to this bowl. It was fired in an electric kiln at Cone 5 (2160 degrees).
I hope that you will enjoy using this bowl that I have made. I hope that each pot that I make expresses my idea, is good in form and function, and reveals an element of quiet surprise.
In 1996 I took a ceramics class at the Art Alliance of Greensboro in Greensboro, NC. As soon as my hands touched the clay, I knew that I had found my life’s passion. My education in ceramics has continued at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, Sawtooth School for Visual Art in Winston-Salem, NC, Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC, and with Susan Snyder in Bloomington, IN. Workshops with Ellen Shankin, Lisa Orr, Suze Lindsay, Kent Mc Laughlin, Michael Simon, Byron Temple, Sunshine Cobb and others have enhanced my exploration in clay. I feel that there is always something more to learn or try when clay is the medium.
After teaching adult and youth classes at the Art Alliance of Greensboro for 20 years I decided to step down in May of 2021 to concentrate on my personal body of work. I am currently a studio potter making in Jamestown, NC.
