Pāpale ʻĀnoni (dark/light contrasting color)

This pāpale is constructed with a natural dark lau hala, while the light colored fiber is loulu palm. The black overlay is a naturally light colored lau hala dyed with Rit dye. Please be aware that the black may fade over time so please, do not leave out in the sun for long periods of time. 

The overlay technique uses the dyed black lau hala to highlight the pāwehe pattern and create a. swirl, while the rest of the hat is woven with the maka ʻoʻeno and maka moena weave. The ʻeke pattern stealthily appears in the crease of the hat before the crown and as an accent on the brim.
