113 - The Art of the Hawaiian Warrior: Pahi Kaua (War Knife) Workshop with G. ‘Umi Kai

Learn to make a pahi kaua the ʻUmi Kai way! Learn about traditional design and function complete with ʻaha (coconut sennit) cordage on the handle. The long dagger is made from the bill (nuku) of a broadbill swordfish (aʻu kū). Pahi kaua (pahi = knife; kaua = war). This workshop is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours long, and you’ll leave with a completed pahi kaua.

• Capacity and restrictions: This workshop is for one (1) person.
• Date, time, and place (G. ʻUmi Kai’s workshop or Bishop Museum) will be mutually agreed upon within eight weeks of the end of auction.
