About Anne Labovitz:
Labovitz (b. Duluth, Minnesota) lives and works in St. Paul, MN. Responding to today’s world, she makes artwork that challenges isolation, loneliness and disconnection by activating color and light in large-scale work. Local context and creating connections with others is embodied in her creative process and public interventions.
Labovitz creates work about how political, social, and cultural platforms can be turned into personal acts of care. Conversation and interaction are integral parts of her creative process, which allows Labovitz to explore a blurred boundary between gallery exhibit and social practice. Color, texture, installation, and community building all combine to create a shared space of connection and contemplation. For years, Labovitz examined the importance of human connection and its visual embodiment.
"Heart" was created especially for DAI fundraising efforts in 2021. 2' x 2' acrylic on canvas.
Full proceeds go to the DAI.

About Heart Berry and founder Sarah Howes:
Heart Berry began as House of Howes in a kitchen in Northern Minnesota on the Rez. In 2014, House of Howes was a small custom regalia business. Sarah Agaton Howes (Anishinaabe) created custom beadwork, quilts, regalia, and moccasins for clients across the midwest. Rooted in her beadwork designs, Sarah's art is embedded in the Ojibwe Floral tradition. Bringing to life and the market the foods, medicines, and stories of her community, Howes loves to bring the traditional and contemporary together in her art. From pencil to the computer to the studio. From the Rez to Heartberry.com. Read the full story here.
