The Lora Wauls Memorial Fund

Lora Anne Wauls, 56, passed away on November 28, 2023 in Houston, Texas. She was born on May 8, 1967 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to Diane and Jack Kmetz. Lora is survived by: her husband, John E. Wauls III; son, Jeremy Wauls; daughters, Ashley Wauls and Lindsay Wauls; mother, Diane Kmetz; and brother, Kevin Kmetz (Wife Heather Kmetz). Lora is preceded in death by: her father, Jack Kmetz; grandparents, Joseph and Veronica Marshall, John E.W. and Ann Kmetz; and Uncle, Bill Marshall.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University. Lora worked as a Medical Social Worker for various local hospitals prior to becoming a Special Education Teacher for Dickinson Independent School District. She had a passion for helping others, giving back to her community, teaching Autistic children, and inspiring others to make the world a better place. Lora loved to spend quality time with family, take vacations, cuddle with her dogs, and relax by the pool. Anyone that knew her would agree that she was a strong advocate for her students and always put everyone ahead of herself, every time, without fail. She will forever be in our hearts.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 18223 Point Lookout Dr., Houston, TX 77058. In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial donation in Lora’s memory may do so to F.A.C.E.S. Autism Houston, which provides families with scholarships to fund their Autistic children with ABA Therapy.
