Women Giving Back (WGB)’s mission is to support women and children in crisis in the greater Washington, DC region. We build confidence and self-esteem by providing quality clothing, school supplies, food, toiletries, and other essentials paired with supportive services to foster their return to self-sufficiency. Our vision is to be the most impactful provider of free clothing and emergency support services to women and children in the region who are homeless, living in local shelters, transitional housing facilities, or safe houses, or living at or below the poverty line – including those coming out of incarceration, fleeing domestic violence, and immigrants and refugees adjusting to life in our region.
As we have witnessed over the past year, COVID-19 has drastically increased the need in our communities. From spikes in food insecurity, loss of income, or an increase in domestic violence victims, COVID-19 has directly impacted the most those that were struggling to make ends meet. There is no greater need at the heart of our community than what we have experienced over the last year. Our work is more crucial now more than ever It costs us more than $40,000 per month to keep our doors open to serve thousands of women and children who depend on our support . Please consider making a donation today to our Do More 24 campaign. Do More 24 is the DMV's largest annual focused day of giving to create the greatest impact together as a community. This 24-hour online fundraiser is will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 all day.
Let us Do More for Women, Do More for Children, Do More for Equity, Do More to Combat Poverty, Do More to end Domestic Violence.
