Las Tías provides robust support for the students and young adults in their programming - regular meals, tutoring, psychological support and so much more. But, due to other funders reducing their support, they are facing a shortfall and need our help to keep some key aspects of their programming in the budget for the coming year.

What will your support do? So much!

Transportation Scholarships are key to getting these students regular access to school. Las Tías provides a stipend to students so they can travel from home > to school > to Las Tías for supportive supplemental programs > and then home again each day. When this funding was cut back a year ago due to another funder cutting their budget, Las Tías saw a dramatic and devastating dip in student attendance at school. When Spark stepped in to help bring this stipend back, attendance rebounded and students went back to getting a regular education. Now we need your support to keep these scholarships funded.

Literacy & Vocational Training gives students the means to achieve economic stability, contribute to their families and communities, and engage in the workforce. By supporting this capacity building and the self confidence that comes with it, you can empower teens and young adults to build their own brighter, and more sustainable future. 

Help us ensure 180 students in Nicaragua receive transportation scholarships as well as literacy and vocational training. We need to raise $17,500 by July 31 to make this programming possible.

• $11 can provide one month of transportation for a student in need.
• $40 can equip a carpentry school graduate with a full toolbox of equipment for their new trade.
• $70 can supply a cosmetology program graduate with tools to open their own in-home salon or barbershop.
• $132 can cover a full year of transportation for an eager learner.
• $470 can purchase sewing machines for 4 vocational training graduates, so they can leverage their entrepreneurial skills.
• $1000 can support a year of literacy education for one student.
