Meals on Wheels Mesa County Mission
The mission of Meals on Wheels Mesa County is to promote the independence, health and well being of the elderly in Mesa County through quality nutritional services. MOW MC provides affordable lunchtime meals to seniors age 60 and older in Mesa County. Over 550 meals are home delivered each weekday to the frail and homebound elderly in the Grand Valley.
Mesa County has more than 100 seniors on a waiting list to receive Meals on Wheels.
Funding for senior programs of all kinds has not kept pace with a rapidly aging Colorado. In an October letter to Gov. Jared Polis, Mesa County Commissioners noted that one in five Coloradans are over the age of 60. In Mesa County, that number is one in four.
