Each year we collection donation to fund our fall upland youth bird hunt and training day. Up to 40 kids are allowed to sign up in advance to participate. The event is held just east of Bend in the Powell Butte area on private land. We provide a hunter safety refresher from trained hunter education instructions, clay pigeon warmup shooting with experienced shotgun coaches, a two hunters per guide hunting experience that last approximately 45 minutes with trained bird dogs and 10 birds per hunt of chukar and pheasant varieties. After the hunt, we teach proper bird cleaning and meat care, provide a recipe book of wild game recipes, and feed the kids and their parents a free lunch. Youth hunters must have a hunter education card and have a valid hunting license.
