About the Capital City Fund

The Capital City Fund allows us to hold events throughout Tulip Festival weekend and how we are able to appropriately care for and recognize our Veterans, a matter that is very important to Mayor Sheehan. The Capital City Fund provides Veterans organizations with the means to hold the Veterans and Memorial Day Parades, the Gold Star Families luncheon and purchase flags used to honor the resting places of Albany County veterans every Memorial Day. The Fund also provides grants to Albany based nonprofit organizations for innovative programs and services in the areas of community and culture, arts, and education. Proceeds from the Tulip Ball will benefit the Capital City Fund and allow it to continue all of this important work.

About the Event

The Tulip Ball is the highlight of the widely-anticipated Tulip Festival weekend. For 75 years, Albany has hosted this celebration of our rich history and tradition with a three-day event featuring the annual street scrubbing, a music, arts and crafts festival attended by thousands in the historic Washington Park, and the Royal Tulip Ball. With by our side at the 75th Annual Tulip Ball, we are sure to achieve this season’s fundraising goal and serve The Capital City Fund well.

In the weeks leading up to Tulip Festival, residents and visitors are encouraged to admire tulips, celebrate spring, and share photos of the cheerful blooms on social media along with the hashtag #518TulipTracker. A Tulip Driving Tour bingo card will also be released on April 20th on Discover Albany’s blog and Facebook page (@albanycvb). Snap a photo of the tulips at each spot on the bingo card and mark off the spots as you go. When BINGO! is secured, email the five tulip photos and the corresponding locations to info@albany.org with a receipt from a City of Albany business you supported while completing the BINGO card by Thursday, May 11 to be entered into a random drawing to win an Albany-themed prize!
