About The Place

In 1975, four Adrian Dominican Sisters arrived in Forsyth County, Georgia, then one of the poorest counties in the country, with a mission to serve those in need. They founded what would become The Place of Forsyth County, starting with a thrift store and food pantry, and expanding to provide emergency assistance, job training, educational programs, and more.

Over the decades, The Place has grown alongside the community, adapting to meet evolving needs while staying true to its mission of providing essential needs and helping families become self-sustaining. Today, The Place serves thousands of individuals in Forsyth and Dawson counties, offering a thrift store, food security, emergency financial assistance, workforce development, assistance with government benefits, youth programs, senior assistance, and transitional housing through The Place Cottage. Thanks to the support of generous donors, volunteers, and community partners, The Place continues to be a vital resource for neighbors in need.

OUR MISSION
