About Our Event

Since its introduction in 1982, The Big Event has become the largest, one-day, student-run service project in the nation. Each spring, tens of thousands of Texas A&M students come together to say “Thank You” to the residents of Bryan and College Station. For the past 38 years, Aggie students have participated in this annual event to show their appreciation to the surrounding community, completing service projects such as yard work, window washing, and painting for residents of the community. Although The Big Event has become the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation, our message and our mission remains the same – to simply say “Thank You.” We cannot wait for the 39th Big Event taking place on March 27th, 2021!

“Through service-oriented activities, The Big Event promotes campus and community unity as students come together for one day to express their gratitude for the support from the surrounding community.”

In past years, The Big Event has held a one-night Gala and Silent Auction at the beginning of the spring semester to raise funds for both our endowment and operating expenses for the year. True to our spirit of service, we're hosting a virtual Fundraiser and Silent Auction this year from February 8th through February 13th to ensure the safety of our community of stakeholders. As a service organization, The Big Event is funded solely through the generosity of private and corporate donors. This Fundraiser and Silent Auction is the largest source of funding toward The Big Event's annual operating cost. We hope you join us in giving back to the Bryan/College Station community!

With the climate of our culture during this time, we have developed a slogan for this year's fundraiser, "More Than Just One Day", in order to encourage our community that the day-of in which we serve with The Big Event is only a fraction of how we empower individuals to serve year-round on a daily basis.

Check out our website at bigevent.tamu.edu for more information or submit a job request form by February 14th if you live within a radius of 15 miles from campus.
