Brenda Brosnan
Brenda loves traveling, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her family at their Northern Michigan cottage. She also enjoys gardening and “playing in the dirt” on their 10-acre property in Clarkston, Michigan – her favorite place to recharge.
Her involvement in Turning Point is deeply personal. Brenda dances in support of survivors and families affected by abuse, inspired by her own family’s experience and a lifelong commitment to protecting, empowering, and standing up for those who need a voice.
For Brenda, this journey isn’t just about dance. It’s about a purpose, awareness, and making a meaningful difference.

I’m stepping out with the stars because domestic violence isn’t something I learned about through statistics — it’s something my family has lived through.
I lost a sister to domestic violence, and I come from a family impacted by abuse. Those experiences stay with you forever, and they are the reason Turning Point’s mission matters so deeply to me.
Turning Point provides real, practical help — the kind of support that can truly change outcomes. Safety planning. Advocacy. Emergency shelter. Counseling. Legal resources. Someone to answer the phone and say, “You’re not alone, and there is a way forward.” These are tangible solutions that save lives.
They are also the resources I wish I had known about before I lost my sister.
As a Board Member and the Stepping Out with the Stars Committee Chair, I see firsthand how Turning Point meets people where they are and helps them take the next step toward safety and healing. This work isn’t theoretical — it’s immediate, compassionate, and lifesaving.
Dancing is far outside my comfort zone. But survivors are asked to do far harder things every day — to leave unsafe situations, to speak their truth, and to rebuild their lives from the ground up.
I’m dancing in honor of my sister. I’m dancing for survivors and families who deserve real support and real solutions. And I’m dancing because if stepping onto a dance floor helps raise awareness, funds, and hope — and helps someone find the help I wish we had known about — then every nervous step is worth it.
Thank you for standing with Turning Point and for helping create a future free from violence.

My ‘why’ for dancing is that this incredible event goes beyond the steps and the spotlight; it’s a profound commitment to the mission of Turning Point Inc. I am motivated by the belief that we can all be a catalyst for change, moving not just our feet, but the conversation and the community forward. With every twirl and every beat, I’m channeling joy, resilience, and hope, dedicating this performance to the strength of those Turning Point serves. This dance will be my vibrant, uplifting way of saying: ‘We see you, we support you, and we’re stepping out for a brighter future together!’

I’m dancing as a Star for Stepping Out with the Stars because Turning Point’s mission deserves bold support and a little spotlight. This is a chance to do something fun, unexpected, and meaningful all at once – using movement, community, and a bit of flair to help raise awareness and critical resources for survivors. Stepping onto the dance floor is my way of showing up, but the real impact comes from all of us coming together to support an organization that provides safety, advocacy, and hope when it matters most. I’m proud to be part of this effort and invite our community to join me in lifting up Turning Point’s vital work.

I have watched women, while in their rock-bottom despair, use it to forge a courage stronger than anything meant to break them - my mother being one of them. She walked away from her husband, from security, from everything familiar, with nothing but her strength and a child to feed. With zero resources, she rebuilt her life from the ground up and created the life she deserved.
In our society, many people avoid looking at sadness or suffering. But I’m here asking you to not just look but to act! To celebrate the courage built from terror and the strength, resilience, and hope it takes to leave and start again. I’m asking you to care enough to be part of making a difference.
If these women and children can step into the unknown, fighting for and believing in a better tomorrow, then the least I can do is step onto this stage with no experience, risk a little embarrassment, and dance for something much bigger than myself.
I think what we’re all really here to do isn’t to dance but to make a stand and stand with these strong women and this organization, making a true difference.
