Proceeds from the auction support the Student Success Fund,
the NOVA Foundation's most impactful fund.
We invite you to join Dr. Hill on his passion for and commitment to Student Success. Let the bidding begin!
Dr. Sam Hill, longtime Provost of Northern Virginia Community College's Woodbridge Campus, retired last year after a five-decade career in higher education. In addition to his work in education, Dr. Hill is a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. Upon his retirement, he donated a collection of Cowboys memorabilia to the NOVA Foundation to support the Student Success Fund. We have added a few other teams to the collection and now offer up the collection for auction.
Dr. Hill had served as provost at the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College since 2005. Over his 17 years, Hill grew campus enrollment, added to and updated the physical campus, expanded transfer and career programming, and welcomed signature student support programs like Year Up.
Dr. Hill became an integral part of the Woodbridge community during his tenure as provost, serving as a commissioner on the Prince William County Future 2030 Commission and on the boards of Northern Virginia Family Services, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, the Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center and the Greater Manassas/Prince William Center for the Arts, among others.
Thank you, Dr. Sam Hill for all that you have done for NOVA and our students and all that you continue to do for Prince William County!
Our most impactful fund, the Student Success Fund removes barriers for academically successful but financially challenged students by providing scholarships, emergency grants or both. Together we will keep students on their path to academic or career success.
Academically successful NOVA students face daily financial challenges as they strive to reach the stage at graduation: a flat tire or unexpected medical bill; the rising cost of food, rent and childcare; the demands of holding down two to three part-time jobs and a college schedule. The Student Success Fund allows students to persist in their educational or professional journey by providing financial support for scholarships, food insecurity, housing instability, books, medical bills and transportation.
The NOVA Foundation was established in 1979 to raise private financial support to close the gap between Commonwealth funds and the resources required to offer excellence in programs to graduate highly sought-after talent. The mission of the educational foundation is to generate support for Northern Virginia Community College by raising funds, increasing visibility, and strengthening partnerships between the College and state and local communities. Funding supports programs with new campus buildings, the latest industry-specific equipment, programmatic innovation, and faculty retention to meet the demands of our region’s workforce. The Foundation supports more than 500 scholarships as well as academic innovation and inclusive excellence through robust annual grant programs that benefit the College's six campuses and NOVA Online. The NOVA Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation. All gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.
