The Republic Strikes Back: A Celebration of Art & Community background

Thanks for a Fantastic Event: The Republic Strikes Back!

In a time of uncertainty and growing challenges for the arts, more than 120 supporters came together—through ticket sales, table purchases, auction bids, and donations—to raise over $150,000 for our arts and education programs, such as Free Shakespeare in the Park, Shakespeare’s HeartbeatShakespeare for All NeighborsShakespeare On Tourand Bay Area Shakespeare Camps

When we come together, each doing our part, we can accomplish extraordinary things. If you weren’t able to attend this festive event, there’s still time to support our work and help safeguard the arts for our entire community during this challenging period. New supporters are essential to advancing our mission, and a growing network ensures we can keep pace with rising costs while navigating an increasingly uncertain landscape.

In addition to a curated selection of wines, craft cocktails (Empire Elixir, anyone?), an array of tempting Italian entrees, and sumptuous desserts, Gala attendees were treated to a performance of Shakespeare on Tour's Julius Caesar.

Here are more opportunities for connection with SF Shakes:

* Save the dates and locations for the 2026 Free Shakespeare in the Park production of Antony and Cleopatra.

Proceeds from these event support our mission to make the words and themes of Shakespeare accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, financial status, or level of education. Your contributions ensure the continuation of arts and education programs like Free Shakespeare in the Park, Shakespeare’s Heartbeat, Shakespeare On Tour, and Bay Area Shakespeare Camps.

If you believe in the power of the performing arts to transform lives, then join us and celebrate the enduring artistry of Shakespeare!
