About the Auction

Saint Helen Service Auction

Saturday, April 13, 2024 @ 6:00pm

Saint Helen Parish Center

In 1990, Saint Helen parishioners in Elizabeth, New Jersey bought a house on Jacques Street to help homeless families. Volunteers, with assistance from the Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless, renovated the house.

Families of various backgrounds have lived there, facing different challenges like job loss, financial struggles, fires, or family issues. The house offers stability, allowing families to live together, cook their meals, and have an address of their own. Children can enjoy a normal childhood, doing homework and having a place to call "home."

To reside in the house, at least one family member had to be employed and homeless. They could live there rent-free for 18 months but were required to save a portion of their income. This savings helped them establish a financial foundation for moving into an affordable apartment.

Today, the house is fully owned and supported by Saint Helen parishioners.

Please join us on Saturday, April 13, 2024 for the 30th Anniversary of Saint Helen Service Auction. Our November 2022 event resulted in $66K for the Saint Helen house and we hope to raise more in 2024. Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased online.
